What Type of Eater Are You?

Angry Eater

Eater angry.jpg

Angry eaters like crunchy food like crisps, apples and crusty bread; tough food like meat; and chewy food like toffee.

Hard mastication and lots of chewing is an effective tool to release stress. Stressed people often want salty foods. They will always eat after a fight or disagreement to make themselves feel better.

Angry eaters also eat to push down feelings. They eat in an attempt to get rid of or to replace a feeling instead of acknowledging it and finding a better way of dealing it.

Top Tip

Sugar-free gum is a much better way of chewing to release tension.

We have receptors in our jaws that respond to chewing by releasing relaxing feelings and it also allows you to get in touch with your feelings and deal with them or accept them instead of using food to change the feeling.

Woman on the Phone

Holding on to your anger because of what is socially acceptable, makes you push down your feelings with food and it doesn't work. You have to express your hurt verbally somehow, to the aggressor, to a friend, or out loud running the tap in the bathroom.

Emotion is energy in motion. And energy is neither created nor destroyed, it's only transformed. So you can choose to transform this angry emotion inside of you into chewing energy, or Zumba energy, or boxing energy. But ultimately, you need to express it out loud.

However you choose to express your hurt, it is always better than the hunger that doesn't serve you.
